08:00 [procrastination is dirty business]
I woke up late for work this morning. I didn’t shower. I don’t like going to work without showering but sometimes my procrastination gets the best of me. My hair is short though so I can pull it off. It doesn’t get tangled and greasy because it can’t. It’s too short. Hair is never the issue. I’m more concerned with the way my hands and face feel. I can feel the hours between showers caked on like layers. They feel slick and oily. Everything I touch feels more disgusting than it would if I were freshly showered. I should have woken up a bit earlier.
09:30 [bright light... frosted lense]
Despite the shitty beginning the day has been getting progressively better. When I got to work I was greeted by a package with my name on it. The digital 4-track that I ordered from ebay had finally come in! I was hoping that it would get here today so I could test it out at practice later tonight. However, I had to work for 8 more hours before I could start using it. Hell, I still have 4.5 hours to go. It’s only 1:28PM. FUCK.
11:45 [stomach acid + stale wheat thins]
Wow, another downside to waking up late… I forgot to pack a lunch. I found a box of wheat thins in my file drawer. It was almost empty; only a few shattered remnants remained at the bottom of the bag. Luckily, I just bought a bag of unsalted almonds to hold me over until the end of the day. I’ve been dragging serious ass today. Since I woke up late I didn’t make my usual thermos full of coffee. Today just keeps getting longer and longer. I’ll drown out my frustration with the crunching sounds of chewing almonds. To make things slightly worse, the wheat thins are stale.
17:30 [dejavu (fuck, this could have been avoided)]
Almost time to get off work. As soon as the buzzer sounds I have to drive to O’Reily’s auto-parts store. Lauren and I went there yesterday to get a replacement bulb for my no-longer-functioning headlight. Despite the fact that I gave them the make, model, and year of my car they still managed to give me the wrong bulb. So now I have to drive back and exchange it. I’m going to take the dead bulb with me so there won’t be any discrepencies. I’ll probably take Austin with me because he’ll need a ride to practice anyway. He can’t drive because he got a DUI. DUI’s are the suck.
21:30 [band practice was productive and the 4-track works]
We were quite productive @ practice tonight. Went through roughly two new songs and began a third. If we can keep this pace we’ll be making a demo soon. Ah well, one step at a time. I was pleased with my new 4-track. I’ve realized that I need to purchase more XLR cables. I could probably use a few more Mics and Mic Stands as well. Band Practice was sweet. We need to work on a name for ourselves. I mean, it’s not officially a band until it has a name.
