End of lease time; the time of year in which my lease expires and I’m forced to find a new place to live. This is probably my least favorite time of the year. It just adds a whole lot more chaos to my already hectic life. Everything has to be put on hold for a week so that I can establish a new base of operations. I don’t like shutting down shop but this is one of the times that I have little choice. My lease is up in May and I need to be on top of shit if I’m going to find a new HQ.
Moving out during FINALS WEEK is going to suck serious dick. When I signed my current lease I must not have paid much attention to the ending date because if I had I might have been a bit more skeptic. Due to my carelessness I am now obligated to move out during finals week. This is going to add a whole lot of stress to the process. I’m just hoping that my finals won’t be overwhelming this semester. This is complicated by the fact that I’ve found very few leases that are beginning in May. If you don’t mind living in an apartment than there’s no problem finding a May lease. However, I hate the very idea of living in an apartment. I always have. I just don’t find apartments to be appealing in the slightest bit. No, I’m looking to rent a house. Granted it’s still a rental but I’ve always thought of rental houses as being better than apartments. I fucking hate apartments. Blah.
Although the moving experience is not entirely bad, there are plenty of reasons as to why I despise it. I have a love/hate relationship with moving. The best way for me to express this emotional duality is by compiling a list of likes and dislikes in regards to moving. Yes, a list should be simple enough… Hell, I might even learn something about myself by doing this.
Reasons why I don’t like moving

01.) shopping around for new places to live.
02.) making dozens of phone calls.
03.) setting up appointments to look at houses.
04.) asking dozens of people the same questions over and over.
05.) going over leases and making sure I’m not going to get screwed.
06.) having to choose who I’m going to be living with.
07.) thinking so much about my finances.
08.) wasting gas driving around looking at houses.
09.) finding duplexs listed under “houses for rent”.
10.) packing up all of my belongings into boxes.
11.) finding a vehicle to transport my stuff.
12.) loading the boxes into the said vehicle.
13.) transporting the boxes.
14.) unloading the boxes.
15.) unpacking the boxes.
16.) losing things in during the move.
Reasons why I do like moving

01.) having an excuse inventory all of my belongings/bullshit.
02.) finding a place that’s better than my previous place.
03.) taking past experiences and using them to prevent future mishaps.
04.) using logic to figure out where everything should go.
05.) decorating a new place to make it feel like home.
06.) acquiring new things during a move.
So there you have it… The closest I can come (at this point in time) to my thesis on my pros and cons of moving.
