Crash Recovery (Back in Business)
I’m suprised that the world hasn’t come to a screeching halt over the past week. I figured that suicide rates would be soaring through the roof since thefrizzle.com has been down for more than 72 hours. It’s all good though, I’m glad that my readers haven’t decided to go off themselves just yet… If they did… Who would read my words?
So here’s the steez…
new install >>> new look >>> new experience
I’ve had to completely revamp my entire website due to a number of pesky annoyances that drove me to format my entire site and start overn (again!). Over the past month I’ve been having issues with my wordpress installation; security issues to be specific. Honestly, if Wordpress was a person I’d probably be in jail with assault charges.
It seems as if my blog had contracted some sort of viral internet STD (software transmitted disease) somewhere along the line. I have no idea where it could have come from or who put it there but I do know that they are douchebags with no conscience. These problems have been driving me insane for the past couple of weeks. I tried everything I could think of to remedy the problem but to no avail. Sadly, websites aren’t like DVD players that you can punch when they aren’t behaving correctly. I’m not saying that I condone the physical abuse of consumer electronics but sometimes you just feel like a slap might do the job.
After many slapless/punchless hours of troubleshooting I finally broke down and contacted my webhost and asked him to re-format my partition to ensure that whatever was causing these problems would be destroyed before gaining consciousness.
After the format I was hesitant to re-install wordpress. The sharp pains in the ass that I’ve been experiencing wit wordpress have prompted me to consider switching to an entirely new platform… Drupal. Since I refuse to jump blindly into anything (unless I have no option) I made sure to do some reading on the subject to see if this change would be beneficial to not only myself but my readers as well.
After doing a bit of reading on the internet I’d come to the conclusion that Drupal just wasn’t for me. I don’t have the time or patience to familiarize myself with something completely alien to me. I just want to write blogs without it being a hassle. I don’t want it to feel like work. That would defeat the purpose of my blogging.
Anyway, it feels good to be back online and healthy again. Hopefully I won’t have to deal with any more security issues that lock me out of my own website ever again!
