Michael Phelps Smokes Weed
Why is the media so up in arms about Michael Phelps smoking weed? Personally, I don’t think it’s a big deal. I don’t think he should be banned from the Olympics OR have his gold medals revoked. If anything, I think he should become the new spokesperson for NORML.
Just because he chose to smoke weed does not make him a bad role model. He worked hard and it’s shown. I think that people are so busy trying to convince the public that marijuana is such a terrible drug that they don’t even care if they destroy the reputation of a world-class athlete. They sure as shit didn’t make this big of a deal about his DUI as a minor. Oh, that’s because getting retarded drunk and driving is more socially acceptable than getting high. It’s stupid.
I mean, we don’t want America’s youth growing up smoking weed because they might become the next athlete to win 8 gold medals would we? That would be terrible, right? I know that smoking marijuana had nothing to do with his ability to swim BUT I don’t think that his choice to consume marijuana should overshadow his athletic abilities. People just need to get over the idea that people are not perfect. Quit marketing people like products and you won’t have these problems with heroification.
