MLK Day

I woke up to a chilly Monday morning. Last night I was doing laundry at my dad’s house. Normally I just wash clothing but this time I decided my sheets and comforters were due for a good wash. Sadly, when I got back home, I realized that I had forgotten my sheets. That kinda sucked but oh well, it’s not like I froze to death. I simply had to make due with one comforter. I just reminded myself that there are people that have to sleep on grass mattresses and then I felt luxourious and guilty. heh

So far this Monday has been exactly like every other Monday. The only exception is that I don’t have class because it’s MLK Day which means that I didn’t have class but I had to go to work instead. At least I was getting paid to sit in a room rather than paying (like usual).

Hopefully everyone was able to make the most of their 3-day break. Well, at least those of you that actually get three days. Most of the employers that I know don’t let people off for MLK day. I didn’t have the best weekend ever but it was decent. Allow me to recap…

:::WEEKEND REVIEW:::
I didn’t do a whole lot over the weekend. Mainly because I had my upper wisdom teeth removed on Thursday and I was told to take it easy over the weekend. The stitches in my mouth made for a good reminder. I’ve formed a bad habit of playing with my stitches with my tongue. It’s probably not a good thing but I can’t help it… they feel weird.

FRIDAY
Friday was very lethargic. I didn’t really do much of anything. Lauren and I went to Amazing Joe’s for dinner and that was pretty much the highlight of our evening (as sad as that sounds). I blame the weather for ruining our usual Friday energy. When I woke up to go to class it was -14 degrees outside! It was frigid cold all day long. By night time it was still -1. It was nearly impossible to be motivated enough to do anything. All we wanted to do was sleep and after going out to eat… we did. We were in bed around midnight. I felt like an old man. Friday was very uneventful.

SATURDAY
After Friday night’s early end I was determined to make the most of my Saturday. Shizzy and I ran a bunch of errands and got some food so that we could start the day running. I ended up buying an ‘open-box’ webcam at Best Buy. It’s a sweet little gadget. I set up a skype account so that I could make video calls to other people with webcams. My friend, John, and I had a pretty bitchin’ skype session. I had a few people over at my apartment and he had a few people over at his and we were able to connect the two apartment via video and sound. Hanging out via video was pretty cool but it eventually led to both groups of people meeting up at the Fickle Peach. I probably shouldn’t have been drinking with stitches in my mouth but I convinced myself that it would be okay. I mean, the alcohol from the beer should sterilize my wounds right? Well, that’s what I told myself. Take that science!

SUNDAY
Lauren’s roommate, Bink, bought a Nintendo Wii without telling anyone. Lauren and I were just stopping by her apartment to grab a few things when we noticed Bink sitting on the couch with a Wii-mote in here hand. Technically, Lauren was the first to notice. I was kinda drifting off into space because the weather was blah. Anyway, we ended up spending a good couple of hours playing Wii Bowling because it’s one of the most addicting games on the planet. I watched Bink play all of the mini-games that make up the Wii tutorial. Some of them are hilarious. Especially the game that requires you to ride a cow. WTF!? lol. Anyway, we designed our Miis and then we were on our way.
