A week after my return and I’m just now getting around to posting the pictures of my trip to Washington DC. Could I be any more of a procrastinator?… Probably not. Anyway, that’s beside the point. The point is this… I had a good time but I quickly realized that DC requires far more than 24 hours to take in. We walked 12 miles looking at various historical monuments and drinking at seedy dive bars. I did my best to get a taste of the city with what little time I had but I felt that the whole experience was rushed in a sort of fast forward type of way.

By the way, there are wayyyyy too many homeless people in DC. There were more homeless people in the streets than people smoking cigarettes. That’s an issue that should be addressed. I was approached for change at least 3 times… Oh, and did I mention that there was some strange guy preaching about the coming rapture while we were waiting on a crosswalk? I’m pretty sure he was insane. He looked like he was in need of science and a hug.

I’ve uploaded pictures of the trip to my flickr account which can be accessed HERE.

Here’s a bit of a preview.

Take a look at the delicious room that my roommate, Shizzy, booked for us in DC. It was quite decadent and came fully equipped with a space-age bathroom.

White House Pimpin’

Oh, and before I forget… Shizzy and I randomly walked to the White House and got to see President Obama land via helicopter in the lawn. Talk about coincidences. It was pretty sweet.

Today Lauren and I are driving to Louisville, KY to check out the Lebowski Festival. I’m taking Lauren to go see Duff’s band (the main dude from Ace of Cakes). Also, I’ll be kicking it with my good friends Everthus the Deadbeats whom I don’t get to see that often because they moved away.

Anyway, it should be a good time. I’m sure that Lauren will be taking lots of pictures while we’re there and I’ll upload them when I get back.

Lauren’s so excited about meeting Duff that she’s nearly pee’d her pants on multiple occassions. She had previously scheduled her birthday party for today but canceled it when she found out that Duff’s band was going to be playing w/ the Deadbeats. After spending a fair amount of time e-mailing all of her guests to inform them that she was rescheduling her bday bash for next week, I called up Deadbeat Benny to get the low down on Lebowski Fest.

Brace yourself Louisville, because we’re on our way. Break out the whiskey.
